Lauren Boebert, a Congresswoman from Colorado, declared that she is “tired of this separation of church and state junk…. The church is supposed to direct the government.” Her video (viewed over 777,000 times) has gone viral as she argues against the separation of church and state. Boebert made these comments while speaking to a Sunday crowd of people at the Cornerstone Christian Center in Basalt, CO. “The reason we had so many overreaching regulations in our nation is because the church complied,” Boebert said. “The church is supposed to direct the government. The government is not meant to direct the church. That is not how our founding fathers intended it. And I’m tired of this separation of church and state junk, that’s not in the Constitution. It was in a stinking letter and it means nothing like what they say it does.” She then received a round of applause from the congregation. The letter that Boebert refers to was written by Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists in 1802.
